Copa Airlines 
| Description: | Founded in 1947, flies domestically to three cities within the Republic of Panama with three Douglas C-47 aircraft. In the 60s Copa begins international service with three weekly flights to San Jose, Kingston, Barranquilla and Medellin, operating AVRO 748 and ELECTRA 188 aircraft.
In the 70s, adds Guatemala and drops domestic flights, becoming an international airline
In the 80s, acquires its first B 737-100, adding flights to Cartagena, Port Au Prince, Santo Domingo, San Juan and Miami.
In the 90s, adds Mexico, Santiago de Chile, Cali, Bogota, Montego Bay, Quito, Guayaquil, Lima and Havana.
Today Copa Airlines' fleet is composed of twelve 737-700 and eight B 737-200 passenger aircraft, flying to 29 destinations in 19 countries.
In 1998, Copa Airlines and Continental Airlines enter into a strategic alliance -- one of the most important in Latin American aviation. In the year 2000, Copa Airlines begins flying to Cancun, Orlando, Sao Paulo and Los Angeles. |
