Tivoli Hotels    

Description: With eleven properties in different locations around the country, the Tivoli group is one of the main chains of hotels in Portugal, offering approximately 2,300 rooms in four and five star accommodation.
Tivoli Hotels are today owned by the Espírito Santo Hotel Group, whose involvement in the hotel business started in 1991. During the 90s, the group acquired three properties in the Algarve: the Hotel Tivoli Lagos, the oldest and most prestigious 4 star hotel in the Algarve, the Tivoli Almansor, a famous landmark in Carvoeiro close to the western Atlantic coast, and in Vilamoura, one of the most celebrated destinations in the Algarve, the impressive Hotel Tivoli Marinotel.
As the Espírito Santo Group decided to focus on tourism as a sector for strategic investment, ESH sought to diversify into distinguished city hotels and acquired Tivoli Hotels in 2000, enlarging upon the minority shareholding they already held.
The Tivoli Group was founded in 1933 with the prestigious Hotel Tivoli Lisbon, located on Av. da Liberdade, the most prominent thoroughfare in the Portuguese capital. Further investment followed in new properties: the Tivoli Palácio de Seteais, Tivoli Jardim - Lisbon, Tivoli Sintra, Tivoli Oporto and Tivoli Coimbra were opened to the public in this order. Through this acquisition by ESHG, the Tivoli brand substantially strengthened its supply in the congress market and in leisure markets such as golf.
In 2001, the revitalized chain opened another hotel to the public, the Tivoli Tejo, an outstanding 4 star property located in the Parque das Nações, in Lisbon (former Expo '98 site). In 2002, with the Tivoli Ocean Park Hotel, Tivoli Hotels arrived in Madeira. Espírito Santo Hotels acquired a 50% share in the company which owns this modern property in Funchal, and established a ten-year management contract.
With its guarantee of tradition, quality and comfort, through this evolution the Tivoli chain of hotels has managed to maintain its personality while also improving levels of success and service. Throughout the years, Tivoli Hotels have remained faithful to their original philosophy, laid down at the time when every guest was known personally by name.
