| Description: | The Langham Hotel in London is legendary, its name synonymous with gracious hospitality and fine living for over a hundred years. Opened back in 1865 by the Prince of Wales, The Langham was not only London's first “grand” hotel, but also the city's largest building at the time.
The building was a tour de force and state of the art with its own steam-pumped artesian well, hot and cold running water and W.C.s in the bedrooms, air conditioning', and the first hydraulically powered lifts in the world. 130 years later, the hotel was acquired by Great Eagle Holdings in June 1996. The purchase marked the beginning of a series of major hotel acquisitions in Europe, North America and the Asia Pacific Region for the group who already owned and operated hotels in Hong Kong.
