El Al Matmid Club
The El Al Matmid Club was established in Israel in 2004 as a loyalty program for travelers on Israel’s El Al Airlines. This club launched as a result of the merging of the other loyalty programs previously offered by the airline.
The club has several membership levels. The Premium Membership contains Matmid, Matmid silver tier, Matmid gold tier, Matmid platinum tier, and the top platinum circle. The basic membership level offers members seat selection, exclusive deals, and other benefits. The silver tier level member is an award for flyers who earn points totaling 1000 or more during a single calendar year. Silver members can get last-minute upgrades (up to 48 hours before takeoff) at reduced cost. These upgrades include upgrades to economy, business, or first class. Gold tier members have accumulated at least 2000 points in a single calendar year. Some of the awards for being a gold tier member include increased maximum carry-on luggage weight and upgrades to business class. Platinum tier membership is given to members who earn 5000 points in one year. These members have access not only to the benefits of the lower levels, but they have additional upgrades, and are also exempt from certain service charges and processing fees. Top Platinum Circle members can redeem awards for personal concierge services anywhere they fly in the world, five percent discounts on duty free goods purchased on board the plane, and other benefits.
Points can be earned by booking flights with El Al and through use of services and products offered by partner companies, of which there are over forty. These partner companies include credit card companies and car rental companies, international hotels, and other airlines. Because of the diversity of its partner program, the Matmid frequent flyer program allows members to earn points to fly for free faster than many other programs. |
