Virgin Blue Velocity
Virgin Blue Velocity is the frequent flyer program presented by Virgin Blue Airlines, an Australian-based airline that's part of the Virgin Group, which includes Virgin Atlantic Airlines. The low cost airline is the second largest in Australia and it services numerous cities in Australia and the surrounding region.
The Virgin Blue Velocity Rewards program was started in 2005 in conjunction with National Australia Bank. In addition to earning points for flying Virgin Blue, members can also get mileage for V Australia, Pacific Blue, Polynesian Blue Airlines, and other international partners such as Virgin Atlantic, Delta, and Hawaiian Airlines. Members earn Velocity Points and Status Credits from Virgin Blue and other Program Partners that include the use of certain credit cards such as American Express Australia, Diners Club, and Citibank. Points are also gained by shopping with certain retailers, through hotel stays, insurance, car rentals, leisure packages, and even donating to the charity Green Cross Australia.
Five Velocity Points and five Status Credits are earned for each dollar spent on flights and members rise from the Red to the Silver or Gold Status based on the number of Status Points. Points can be redeemed for free flights and perks such as lounge access, free baggage, priority check-in, and upgrades. With its many partner airlines and other ways to earn and redeem points, the Virgin Blue Velocity frequent flyer program is one of the best loyalty programs in Australia. |
