The Spanair Plus program was created to benefit the loyal and frequent flyers of Spanair airlines. Currently, it offers three different levels, Blue, Silver and Gold.
Level status depends on the number of flights taken and points earned in a 12 month period. Each level allows members to accrue points. Silver and Gold members receive additional perks including designated check-in desks, VIP lounges, bonus points, discounts, and additional luggage allowances.
Members can earn their first 300 points simply by enrolling in the program. Further points accumulate by flying with Spanair or one of their Star Alliance airline partners and through partner hotel and car rental chains. Points can be redeemed for free flights, hotel stays, car rentals, or airline baggage fees. Domestic flights can be acquired by redeeming 1,500 to 5,000 points, depending on the location and class. International flights require from 2,500 to 10,000 points and flights are available throughout Europe and to various areas in Africa. Upgrades on previously purchased flights are also available for varying points.
Another fantastic option available, perhaps to members lacking those last few points, is to combine points and money to obtain a flight. Again, the points and money necessary depend on the location and class.
