Alaska Air Mileage Plan
The Alaska Air Mileage Plan is Alaska Airlines' Frequent Flyer Program allows its members to earn miles through air travel or affiliate partners. These miles can then be redeemed for flights or upgrades on Alaska Airlines or its flight partners, which include American Airlines, Delta, Qantas and various rental car and retail partners like Alamo and Avis. Members can also apply for an Alaska Airlines Visa Signature Credit Card that allows members to accrue points based on how much money they spend each month - the usual rate is 1 point earned per dollar spent.
There are multiple levels of membership in the Mileage Plan: MVP, MVP Gold and the newly added MVP Gold 75K Elite membership. These are Alaska' version of a Loyalty Program: if you fly a combination of Alaska and its partners a certain number of segments and miles in one year, you are eligible for certain awards each time you fly. For example, to become an MVP Gold 75K Elite member, you must have flown 75,000 miles on Alaska Airlines, or 90,000 miles total on Alaska and its partner airlines, or 90 flight segments - all within one year.
If you fulfill these qualifications, you not only earn miles but also get certain perks, such as top priority on the first class upgrade list, bonus miles on every flight with Alaska Airlines, Horizon, American Airlines or Delta, and a free media player for each flight. |
