Northwest Airlines World Perks

Northwest Airlines’ frequent flyer program, Northwest Orient Airlines Free Flight Plan, was created in 1981. This loyalty program originally used paper coupons and gave credit for flight segments, however the program was later renamed “WorldPerks” and switched to a mileage-based system.

Following a 23-year run and Northwest Airlines’ merger with Delta, WorldPerks was discontinued in October 2009, and its members were transitioned to SkyMiles, Delta’s frequent flier program.
